Tiger Goalkeeper will be running our Goalkeeper Training Camp for male and female goalkeepers aged 6-16 years on the 13th and 14th of January, school holidays at Bressington Park. We are very lucky to have Felix Vu, current assitant coach at Ferrum College (NCAA D3) from the USA college soccer system who will help lead the sessions.
Coach Vu, is an Aussie former semi pro player who played in the Premier Leagues locally, and went onto represent Australia. Coach Vu, was the goalkeeper coach for the NPSL Demize in 2019 (4th tier of professional soccer in the USA), and as a collegiate athlete he played with Alderson Broaddus University in NCAA D2.
The event is to work with goalkeepers at the initial stages of development across the above age groups in what is a fun learning environemnt, under the guidance of expert goalkeeper coaches.
The event will focus on:
- Basic technical training specific to the goalkeepers position (handling, positioning, footwork etc.)
- Learning to be game aware, and an introduction to tactics.
- Fun technical games to enhance goalkeeper specific fitness
- Small sided games to develop footwork and handling
- Goalkeeper War Tournament. An exciting way for young goalkeepers to put together all that they have learned in a 1:1 battle against their peers.
The camp will run for two (2) days, for three (3) hours per day. Ages will be split up between 6-8's - 9-12s and 13's to 16's with an instructor working each group. Stations and games will be set up around the field, and players and age groups will rotate among the stations. In the final hour of the day we will play Goalkeeper Wars. Additional care can be taken post 12 PM pick up if required by parents at an additional cost (please contact us directly to discuss).
All our trainers are Working With Children certified, and hold diploma's in fitness instruction. We work very hard to create a safe and fun environement for all out trainees. Parking is freely available around Bressington Park (3hr parking limit), DFO (2 hr limit), or free parking in surrounding streets, with safe drop off. If parents wish to attend the session throughout the day, or intermittently want to step away from the field for a feed their is George St in North Strathfield or DFO with plenty of food options.
All attendees should bring ample water, sunblock (if required), and a packed lunch for the day. Their will be intermittent rest breaks right throughout the 3 hours, with plenty of time to get replenished and recharged for all attendees.
Look forward in seeing you in attendance at the Tiger GK Goalkeeper Training Camp this January school holidays with Coach Vu, Rafa and the team!
